They Have Made These Woods Too Tame

They have made these woods too tame.

It is not a path but a road,

Fully a span wide, at the least,

That cleaves this forest place.

I would say farewell to roads, I think,

And seek a haven in the pathless green.

I would take a way that itself

Tells me how I might walk it

But leaves the decission under my feet.

Wherever I go, it will be away.

They have made these woods too tame.
